Statement of Purpose

The Yolo County Habitat Conservation Joint Powers Agency (JPA), and its member agencies, are dedicated to the county-wide conservation of valuable habitat and natural resources through, among other things, the preparation of a Natural Communities Conservation Plan/Habitat Conservation Plan (NCCP/HCP). In recognizing the need to have broad community participation during the NCCP/HCP preparation, the JPA Board has formed an advisory Steering Committee with a membership representative of the varied interests of the County, including the environment, education, agriculture, business, local government, and the community-at-large.

The primary purpose of the Steering Committee is to assist in the preparation of the Yolo County HCP/NCCP. The Steering Committee will accomplish this by conducting a careful review of all relevant materials and documents, introducing, evaluating and synthesizing ideas and information, and engaging in meaningful discussion to resolve complex issues and reach the greatest possible stakeholder consensus. Based on a thorough review, evaluation and discussion of the Yolo County HCP/NCCP, the Steering Committee will provide recommendations to the JPA Board.

Members are galvanized by their desire to work in an environment of mutual respect, with an overarching goal of participating in the development of a quality Plan that reflects the broadest possible set of interests and concerns within Yolo County. The Steering Committee will dissolve upon approval of the HCP/NCCP and its Implementing Agreement.
